To ensure that data is collected a certain way in a text field use the, Enforce pattern option.
When setting up a text field choose Yes for Enforce pattern.
Use a "?" if the user can enter any value. Use a "#" to force the user to enter a number. You can also add other characters for formatting, such as brackets or letters.
Consider the following phone number example.
On form start the user is forced to enter values according to the set pattern.
