Merging customers allows you to consolidate customer names in RPM under a single master customer name. The merged child accounts will be added as aliases. This is particularly useful when a customer is listed under different names by you and a TSD/Supplier. By merging, you can standardize the customer name to match the one you have on file.
When customers are merged, their commission history, accounts, commission items, contacts, and process forms will be combined into one customer record. If different agencies were assigned to each customer before the merge, they will retain access to the new merged customer record but will only be able to view information relevant to their profile.

The merge feature in RPM can be used for 2 different purposes:
Name cleanup: Our primary method for merging customers is to use this option when you have multiple records for the same customer but with different spellings (e.g., ABC Company vs. ABC Company Inc.). The merge feature helps clean up your customer database by consolidating these records into one. All related information—such as contacts, orders, and accounts—will be combined under a single name.
Location merge: This option is recommended if you want to create locations based on the customer name. Use this feature when you have multiple records for the same customer but with different spellings (e.g., ABC Company vs. ABC Company Inc.). The merge feature consolidates these records, cleaning up your customer database by combining all related information—such as contacts, orders, and accounts—under a single name. Additionally, each merged customer will have a location created under the master customer's Location tab.
Note: Using either of these merges will add on the merged customers name as an alias under the master customer
