Importing data into your table field will allow you to quickly populate your table through a spreadsheet import. Free row tables will append the new data as a new table row if the Table row field is blank on the spreadsheet. Existing data or Defined row tables will need to have the row number or the table row name to populate the row.
Import Data into Free Row Table Field Type
Consider the table field in the screenshot below. This table has a staff reference field.
To import data via Microsoft Excel into this table field you would setup your spreadsheet as shown in the screenshot below.
In the first column, the header must be called Number. This corresponds to the form number you want to import data into. The receiving form must already exist. If it does not exist already, the import will fail. In the example spreadsheet shown above, this data will be imported to form number 0001. To import into a table field, make a column header titled Table Field. Under this column, include the field name of the table field. In the spreadsheet above, the table field I want to import into is called, Table Field Example. The Table row column is also required to import. For importing into a free rows table, you can leave the row under the column blank. Now enter the field names of the fields that are in the table as column headers. There is only one field in this table, Meeting Attendee, which is shown above. Each row in Excel corresponds to one row of a Table Field in RPM. Importing this spreadsheet will import the two names in to their own row.
To update data in a Free row table use the corresponding row number. For example, Table Row 1 and 2 to update the existing fields in the table.
Import Data into Defined Rows Table Field Type
Consider the Defined Rows Table below.
The only difference importing a Defined Row versus a Free row table is the Table Row column will require the row name filled in.
Define the table row in the spreadsheet to match the name of the table row in the table field in RPM.
Importing into Other Fields on a Form
You can import other fields in a form with a table field as long as a field in a table field in NOT named the same as a field outside of a table. For example, the field Host can be imported alongside the table field.
