You can use the rich text area field to create formatted text blocks and tables into your forms.

The rich text area field offers greater customization for your text, allowing you to create more readable blocks using paragraph tools and headers. Additionally, it lets you copy text from other sources while retaining much of the original formatting. This is especially useful when preserving elements like bullet points or tables from emails within your form.

The rich text area field can be found as an option for the text field in the process field setup.

  • Field: Enter the field’s name.
  • Group (optional): Select a field group.
  • Type: There are five choices for Text fields: Text box, Text area, Text area (formatted rich text), Link, and Email.
  • Instruction (optional): Text instructions that display on top of the text field that can provide a description on what to enter into the text field.
  • Character limit (optional): Limit the number of characters available for entered text. You would want to limit the characters to force users to only enter information that is essential. Simply enter a number in the corresponding Character Limit box to limit the characters for a text field.
  • Security: Choose the permissions for Staff, Agent, and Customer users.

The rich text area box displays on the form as a text area with text formatting options on the top.

Copy Example

A key use case of the formatted rich text area is to copy content directly from PDF documents or emails and paste it into the text area. Although certain elements, like images, cannot be copied, the formatted rich text area retains more of the original formatting, resulting in a cleaner and more readable text field.
